Today's weather won't differ too much from yesterday's; fine, sunny morning and hot across all of Cuba. In the afternoon, however, some cloudy spells could develop gradually across the inland and southern areas bringing sporadic showers and thunderstorms.
The weather will remain heavy throughout the country with temperature ranging from 32-35 C. Later overnight, it will drop to 25 C (77 F).
Northeastern winds are expected, blowing at 10-25 KmPH (6-15 MPH) although they could blow harder in some parts of the North-east causing some unrest of the sea. The rest of the country will see another quiet day with calm sea.

A wet and overcast day is expected today across most of Cuba bringing numerous showers and rains. These rains could be intense in some Western and Central areas and there will be a risk of thunderstorms too.

Tropical Storm Isaac moves on the Gulf of Mexico with maximum sustained winds of 100 KmPH, but the rains persist in Cuba, said the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET). Tropical Storm Isaac is slowly moving away from Cuba to the Florida Keys, after lashing the island with winds and rain. No casualties have been reported so far, although some extensive damage is done, especially in Baracoa, Cuba's easternmost city, where more than thousand people had to be evacuated. While some winds and rain on the edges of the storm will still be present in the region of Matanzas and Havana this morning, in the afternoon the weather is expected to clear and return back to normal.

Light to moderate floods and rainfall throughout Cuba are the predominant elements in Sunday''s forecasts for Tropical Storm Isaac, which increased its strength after leaving Cuban territory. Rains persist on Sunday in most of the country, but they will be stronger and more intense from Camagüey to Guantánamo, in the east, according to the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET). Rains will continue in the afternoon along the central and north western coast, added the report, issued at 18:00 hours, local time (22:00 GMT), which located Isaac at about 120 kilometers north of Havana. From 02:00 until 05:00 on Sunday, 90 millimeters of rain were reported in the towns of Petty, in Santiago de Cuba, as well as in Pinares de Mayari (59) and Guaro (64), both in Holguin province, about 800 kilometers east of Havana.

At the end of the morning, Isaac will make landfall on the southeast Cuba by the province of Guantanamo. The center of Isaac will move near or over eastern Cuba today, and near the north coast of Cuba by nightfall. The rains will increase gradually in the eastern provinces, becoming heavy and intense this afternoon. The winds will blow with maximum speeds of 70-95 KmPH (tropical storm strength), with higher gusts in the eastern provinces of Cuba. Tropical Storm Isaac pushed into Cuba Saturday after sweeping through Haiti's southern peninsula. At least three Haitians were reported dead; a woman and a child in Souvenance and a 10-year-old girl in Thomazeau. Isaac entered Cuba through westernmost point, the Maisi point, at around 11 AM, with gusts of wind that hit the 93 KmPH mark. According to Jose Rubiera, head of the Meteorological Institute of Cuba (INSMET), there have been sea penetrations already in Baracoa city, and swells in the Cuban eastern coasts can reach up to five meters. His forecast includes rains all over Cuba, and a descent in temperatures due to cloudy skies and rains. By mid afternoon, Isaac's center was over eastern Cuba, 40 miles (65 km) north of Guantanamo Bay. The storm had top winds of 60 mph (95 kph) and would become a hurricane if those swirling winds reach 74 mph (119 kph).

Isaac left into the sea at 16:00 in the vicinity of Guardalavaca, in Holguin province (760 km east of Havana), after moving for almost five hours over Cuba, said on television meteorologist Jose Rubiera, head of the INSMET forecasts. Cuban authorities have not reported major damage or victims by the passage of Isaac, that was moving with maximum sustained winds of 95 kmph and moves at about 33 KmPH, according to the INSMET.

Tropical Storm Isaac is heading toward the island of Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic) after unleashing heavy rain on some part of Puerto Rico. It is forecast that Isaac will stay tropical storm even when it hits Cuba after passing Hispaniola, meaning it won't gain on strength or speed. There is a slight chance that it will be upgraded to category 1 hurricane after passing Cuba on its way to Florida. The Tropical Storm Watch has been declared by Cuban authorities for the provinces of Guantanamo, Holguin, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Camaguey and Las Tunas.

Tropical Storm Isaac will pass near or over Haiti tonight and move over eastern and central Cuba on Saturday and Sunday. Isaac maintains maximum sustained winds of 95 KmPH mph, with higher gusts, but could gain intensity today or tomorrow, the Meteorological Institute of Cuba (INSMET) reported. Whether or not it becomes a hurricane, it will dump heavy rain over Eastern Cuba, especially tomorrow afternoon. During the next 12 to 24 hours, there will be tidal waves with danger for navigation in the North-east causing coastal flooding in low-lying areas. There will also be surge of the sea in the south-east. Cuba is keeping a close eye on the evolution and future trajectory of Isaac, which may represent a potential threat to the island.

Tropical Storm Isaac took aim at the Dominican Republic and Haiti early Thursday and is expected to gain strength after a hit on these islands over the eastern entrance to the Caribbean. So far there hasn't been any major damage, however authorities in Puerto Rico said an elderly woman died in an accident while preparing for the storm. It is forecast that Isaac was likely to approach Hispaniola, the island shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti, as a hurricane late Thursday or early Friday after intensifying over the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. It was predicted to move on to Cuba as a tropical storm and perhaps eventually menace Florida as a hurricane later in the week.

Isaac could become a Category 1 hurricane on Friday as it approaches the island of Hispaniola, which is shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti. It was expected to weaken a little while crossing over Haiti and the eastern two-thirds of Cuba. Isaac was centered 210 miles (340) kilometers southeast of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Thursday evening, and its maximum sustained winds had strengthened a bit to 45 mph (75 kph). It was moving west-northwest at 16 mph (26 kph), according to the hurricane center.

Tropical storm Isaac, which was formed last night out of Tropical Depression 9, is getting better organised. It is expected to strenghten on its projected path which includes Eastern Caribbean islands as well as Cuba. It is believed that, by the time it reaches Cuba, it will be upgraded to category 1 hurricane. The government of Dominican Republic has issued a hurricane warning already. The rest of the area which could be affected, including Cuba, are keeping a watchful and wary eye.

Issac is moving toward the West near 22 MPH (35 KmPH) and this general motion is expected to continue for the nest couple of days. The center of Isaac is forecast to move through the central Lesser Antilles on Wednesday evening and emerge over the eastern Caribbean by Thursday morning. Forecast models show the storm potentially making a turn to the northwest on Friday and hitting central Cuba as a hurricane on Sunday.

The weather is hot and sunny all year round. April and May though are especially good. Then you have the most sunny days, low rainfall, low humidity, hot, but not too hot and no hurricanes. In addition, and rather perversely, generally this time, except the Easter week, is low season. So, you should see that flights, hotels, package holidays and car rentals are at the lowest rates but with relatively high availability.
