Weather News for October 2007:
31.10.2007, 8:00 a.m. – The cloudiness will be abundant in Eastern half with showers and rains that will be strong and intense in some localities, mainly of the Eastern region. In the rest of the country will continue the storm clouds and showers at intervals that could be increased on the rest of the central region from the afternoon. The maximum temperatures will be between 27-30 C and at night will oscillate between 23-26 C, inferior in Eastern half. The winds will blow from Northeastern region in the West and center with speeds between 25-40 Kms/h, superior in zones of the North coast. In the Eastern region they will blow from South region with speeds between 35-50 Kms/h, with superior gusts of wind. There will be swells with danger to navigation in all North coast, as well as from Punta de Maisí to Cabo Cruz. 31.10.2007, 05.00 a.m. - Tropical Storm Noel was inland over Cuba near 22.1 north and 78.2 west, or 50 miles north-northwest of Camaguey, Cuba. Maximum sustained winds were near 40 mph with tropical-storm-force winds extending 175 miles northeast of the center, mostly in localised gusts. The central pressure of Noel is estimated at 1000 millibars, or 29.53 inches of mercury. Current movement is to the north-northwest at 7 mph. A tropical storm warning is in effect for the Cuban providences of Sancti Spiritus, Ciego De Avila, Camaguey, Las Tunas, Guantanamo, Granma, Santiago De Cuba and Holguin. The storm remains a minimal tropical storm due to its interaction with the Cuban land mass. The storm should stay over land until midday today, so further weakening could occur, and it is possible Noel could be downgraded to a tropical depression sometime this morning before emerging over the water. Noel will move northwest across central Cuba early this morning and then take a more northerly turn later today. As this system moves northwestward, then more northerly back over water and away from land, it will be in a better position to intensify again this afternoon and evening. However, as it moves northward, it will encounter stronger westerly upper-level winds which could also prevent the storm from intensifying too much. Tropical-storm-force winds from Noel extend out to about 175 miles east and northeast of the storm\'s center. No tropical-storm-force winds are being reported directly related to Noel to the west or southwest of the storm at this time. However, as Noel moves into the Straits of Florida north of Cuba later today, tropical-storm-force winds will develop on the northwestern and western sides of the storm and could extend outward nearly 50 miles away from the storm\'s center.

By 1500 GMT, Noel\'s centre was about 40 miles (60km) south-east of Camaguey, Cuba, and some 270 miles (435km) south of Nassau in the Bahamas. The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami said the storm is expected to remain over Cuba for the next 24 hours.

Tourist Advisory
The weather is hot and sunny all year round. April and May though are especially good. Then you have the most sunny days, low rainfall, low humidity, hot, but not too hot and no hurricanes. In addition, and rather perversely, generally this time, except the Easter week, is “low season”. So, you should see that flights, hotels, package holidays and car rentals are at the lowest rates but with relatively high availability. Please note some Hotels and Car models are popular all year so bookings are advisable as far in advance as possible.
