At 5:00 PM the center of Hurricane Irene was estimated to be near latitude 19.5 North, longitude 68.6 West. Irene is moving toward the West-Northwest near 20 KmPH and this motion with a small decrease in forward speed is expected tonight and Tuesday. On this track, the core of Irene will be moving Tuesday morning near the north coast of eastern Cuba.
From the morning of Tuesday the rain areas associated with Irene will begin to affect the eastern provinces of Cuba. These rains could be heavy and intense in mountainous areas. The winds will begin to increase in zones of the northeast coast by Tuesday night with speeds between 25-40 KmPH and higher gusts.
The rough sea conditions will persist in the Northeast coast causing danger for navigation and swimming. Some coastal flooding is expected on the northern coast of Guantanamo.

At 8:00 AM the center of tropical storm Emily was located near latitude 17.1 North, longitude 71.8 West. Emily has been meandering during the past few hours but is expected to resume a West-Northwest track near 11 KmPH this morning. On this track, the center of Emily will move over extreme eastern Cuba tonight or early Friday.
The maximum sustained winds remain around 85 KmPH with higher gusts. The tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 185 Km to the North and East of the center. The latest minimum central pressure reported was 1004 hectoPascal.
From this afternoon the rain areas associated with Emily will begin to affect the eastern provinces of Cuba. These rains could be intense in mountainous areas of Guantanamo and Holguin.
There will be big and dangerous waves for navigation and swimming in the Eastern coasts after the midday.

At 8:00 PM the center of tropical storm Emily was located near latitude 16.9, longitude 70.6 West. Emily was moved little over te past few hours but is expected to resume a Westward motion of about 22 KmPH in the nest few hours. A gradual turn to the West-Northwest is expected during the next day or so. On this track the center of Emily will move over extreme Eastern Cuba thursday night.
The maximum sustained winds remain around 85 KmPH with higher gusts and the latest minimum central pressure reported was 1004 hectoPascal.
The eastern provinces of Cuba must pay attention to the information about Emily's evolution in the next 12/ 24 hours.

Emily is moving toward the West with an average speed of 22 KmPH although a turn to the Northwest is expected later today. The Emily's maximum sustained winds are around 85 KmPH with higher gusts. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 hectoPascal.
The tropical storm conditions are expected to spread over extreme eastern parts of Cuba on Thursday afternoon.

The weather is hot and sunny all year round. April and May though are especially good. Then you have the most sunny days, low rainfall, low humidity, hot, but not too hot and no hurricanes. In addition, and rather perversely, generally this time, except the Easter week, is “low season”. So, you should see that flights, hotels, package holidays and car rentals are at the lowest rates but with relatively high availability.
